About D&D Interior Services
Every Room Tells a Story β We Help You Write It
How D&D Interior Services Was Built
D&D Interior Services was founded in Kitchener in 2023 with one conviction: homeowners deserve better than the chaotic, subcontractor-dependent renovation experience that has become the industry standard. Devon Moore and David Fitzpatrick had both watched friends and family endure blown timelines, miscommunication between trades, and finished projects that fell short of what had been promised. They decided to build something different from the ground up.
From the company's first project, D&D was structured around a single non-negotiable: every trade under one roof. Our carpenters, tile setters, flooring specialists, lighting technicians, and finishing crews are D&D employees β not hired hands from a different company whose schedule doesn't align with yours. This means one communication channel, one accountability structure, and one team that takes pride in the whole project rather than just their slice of it. The result is tighter quality, better coordination, and renovations that actually finish on time.
We introduced our free 3D design consultation as a direct response to something that kept coming up in client conversations: the fear of not being able to visualize the finished space until it's too late to change anything. With our photorealistic 3D renders, clients see their planned kitchen or bathroom before a single material is ordered. They can experiment with tile colours, cabinet styles, lighting layouts, and countertop materials in a risk-free environment. It changes the renovation experience from nerve-wracking to genuinely exciting β and it's always free.
Waterloo Region is our home territory and we know these homes intimately. We understand the 1970s bungalows in older Kitchener neighbourhoods, the newer builds in Waterloo's Westvale and Laurelwood, the heritage Victorians in Galt, and the mixed housing stock across Cambridge and Guelph. Our team has renovated in all of them, and that local knowledge shows up in how we plan, source, and build. We're proud to be the contractor our clients call back for their next project β and the one they recommend to every neighbour who asks.
The Full Picture
Why the Renovation Industry Needed to Be Fixed β and What We Did About It
The renovation industry in Kitchener-Waterloo has a well-documented problem, and Devon and David knew it firsthand before they ever started D&D. The standard operating model for most renovation contractors is to book as many projects as possible, manage them all through a loose network of day-rate subcontractors, and rely on clients to absorb the delays, coordination failures, and quality inconsistencies that inevitably result. Homeowners in the Waterloo Region β in Kitchener's older neighbourhoods, the growing suburbs of Waterloo, the heritage homes of Cambridge, the family properties in Guelph β were consistently subjected to this model and left frustrated, often having paid top dollar for mediocre results they had to live with every day.
Devon and David spent months before founding D&D Interior Services talking to homeowners who had been through renovation projects β good and bad. What they found was that the difference between a good experience and a bad one almost always came down to one factor: whether the contractor had genuine control over their crew's schedule, quality, and communication. When a contractor relied on subcontractors β which most do β they had limited control over any of those things. The tile setter showed up a week late because of another project. The carpenter and the flooring installer scheduled over each other because nobody coordinated. The homeowner called the contractor to ask what was happening and got vague reassurances that proved meaningless.
D&D Interior Services was built specifically to eliminate that dynamic. By employing all core trades directly β carpenters, tile specialists, flooring crews, lighting technicians, crown moulding finishers β and by building our 3D pre-visualization process to lock in design decisions before any work begins, we removed the two biggest sources of renovation failure: misaligned expectations and uncoordinated trades. Three years of client feedback has confirmed what Devon and David believed when they started: homeowners who know what they're getting before demolition begins, and whose trades are all accountable to the same team, have a fundamentally different experience. That's the D&D experience, and it's available to every homeowner in Waterloo Region who's ready for a renovation done properly.
Our Design Philosophy: Listen First, Design Second, Build Third
Great interior renovation doesn't start with a contractor's favourite materials or a template layout from a showroom. It starts with listening. At every D&D consultation, we ask more questions than we answer β how do you actually use your kitchen? What time of day do you spend in your bathroom? What does "enough storage" really mean to your family? What parts of your current space drive you crazy every morning?
Listen First
We learn how you live. Your habits, priorities, aesthetics, and frustrations with your current space shape everything that comes after. No assumptions, no templates.
Design Second
Our 3D renders translate your vision into a photorealistic preview. You see, adjust, and approve β before any materials are ordered or walls are touched.
Build Third
With design approved, our in-house team executes with precision β on time, on budget, and to a craftsmanship standard you'll notice and appreciate every single day.
This sequence matters. When clients skip the first two steps β when a renovation begins before the design is truly settled β that's where budget overruns, scope creep, and disappointment come from. Our process protects against that. Every detail is agreed upon before our crew sets foot in your home.
Meet the Founders
D&D Interior Services is a hands-on company. Devon and David are at every consultation, involved in every project, and reachable by phone throughout your renovation.
Devon oversees every renovation from initial site assessment through to final handover. With a background in residential construction and a disciplined attention to schedule and craft quality, Devon is the reason D&D projects come in on time and on spec. He personally reviews each proposal before it goes to a client and is on-site for every critical phase of the build.
Devon grew up in Ontario and built his first deck at age 15 β the love of building and the satisfaction of a well-finished space never left him. He's particularly passionate about flooring installations and open-concept kitchen transformations, and has a knack for seeing what a space could become before a single wall is moved.
David is the relationship architect at D&D. He manages every design consultation, handles client communication throughout each project, and is your primary contact for questions, updates, and the final walkthrough. David's background in project management and residential interior design gives him a rare combination of organizational precision and genuine aesthetic sensibility.
David developed D&D's 3D visualization process after watching too many renovation projects fall apart because clients couldn't picture the finished result until it was too late to change course. That free 3D consultation is now one of the most consistently praised aspects of working with D&D β and it was entirely David's initiative.

Durability Over Shortcuts
Cheap underlayment, builder-grade drywall compound, and watered-down paint don't belong in our vans. We spec materials that hold up for decades.
Site Respect
We treat your home like a client, not a job site. Daily cleanups, dust barriers, and shoe covers are standard β not extras. Your home stays liveable during renovation.
